Laser scans reveal Maya "Megalopolis" below Guatemalan Jungle. Laser technology known as LiDAR digitally removes the forest canopy to reveal ancient ruins below, showing that Maya cities such as Tikal were much larger than ground-based research had suggested.


In what’s being hailed as a “major breakthrough” in Maya archaeology, researchers have identified the ruins of more than 60,000 houses, palaces, elevated highways, defensive walls, ramparts, terraces, fortresses and other human-made features that have been hidden for centuries under the jungles of northern Guatemala.

Complex irrigation and terracing systems supported intensive agriculture capable of feeding masses of workers who dramatically reshaped the landscape.

At its peak in the Maya classic period (approximately A.D. 250–900), the civilization covered an area about twice the size of medieval England, but it was far more densely populated.

Now, according to new analysis of ancient religious texts carved into pyramid walls around 2400 BC this mysterious chamber may hold an iron throne carved from meteorites.

These texts, it is said that the pharaoh, before reaching the stars of the north, will have to pass the ‘gates of the sky’ and sit on his ‘throne of iron’.

Mount Wutai is a sacred Buddhist site at the headwaters of the Qingshui in Shanxi Province, China. Its central area is surrounded by a cluster of flat-topped peaks roughly corresponding to the cardinal directions. The north peak (Beitai Ding or Yedou Feng) is the highest (3,061 m or 10,043 ft) and is also the highest point in northern China.

A long-hidden narrow cavity in the Great Pyramid of Giza has been found by scientists in a discovery that could finally reveal the secrets of the 4,500-year-old monument.

Described as a 'deep void', it is at least about 100 feet long and up to 230 feet above ground, running over the Grand Gallery, an ascending corridor that links the Queen’s chamber to the King’s in the heart of the pyramid, reports Dailymail in their in-depth article on this discovery.

It is not known why the void exists or if there are any valuable artifacts inside as it is not obviously accessible. More research will be conducted to reveal the secrets of this cavity which is so big, it’s like a plane with 200 seats in the heart of the pyramid, explains AFP Medhi Tayoubi, co-director of the project ScanPyramids at the origin of the discovery.

A giant planet – the existence of which previously thought extremely unlikely – discovered around a small star by an international collaboration of astronomers, with University of Warwick taking a leading role.

In 1986, German historian Heribert Illig started developing the Phantom Time Hypothesis. Illig claims that he has archaeological evidence that can prove that the years AD 614 - 911 do not actually exist and the Gregorian calendar is nothing but a lie.

Local legends speak of a mysterious ‘spaceship’ that has remained since ancient times somewhere near a system of three caves located between the cities of Veracruz and Puebla in Mexico on which a group of researchers decided to travel to the area a few months ago to find out more about this mysterious ‘spaceship.’

While flying over the Evenk taiga and its impenetrable swamps in the Arkhangelsk region in Russia, a pilot saw something incomprehensible.


What he discovered was a group of spots with many strange old unnatural looking pits filled with water in the ground.

The pilot was able to film the pits and reported the phenomenon to scientists on which they decided to visit the place and concluded that there were more similar pits though some of them were covered with moss.


Even more mysterious is an enormous spot that looks like a kind of crop circle structure, which is located at about two kilometers from the pits in the ground.


Further research into the origin and meaning of the pits as well as the strange crop circle like structure which clearly shows a pattern, will undoubtedly be carried out by the scientists.

An anomaly hunter who is studying images of the planet Mars via Google Earth is convinced that he has found an ancient artificial object that looks like a dome or a sphere.
