Massive Meteorite explodes over Murmansk, Russia (Video) - Apr 19, 2014

According to Phys.org three former NASA astronauts will present new evidence that our planet has experienced many more large-scale asteroid impacts over the past decade than previously thought.

The research was conducted by the B612 Foundation. The foundation used data from a nuclear weapons warning network and has detected 26 multi-kiloton explosions since 2001, that have caused "atomic-bomb-scale explosions" that have fortunately been far away from major population centers. It shows that asteroid impacts are not rare, but actually 3-10 times more common than previously thought.

The fact that none of these asteroid impacts was detected in advance is proof that the only thing preventing a catastrophe from a 'city-killer' sized asteroid is blind luck.

Last night, April 19, 2014, yet another eye-searing blue meteor screamed across the dark Russian sky.

The meteor blasted over Murmansk, a city in the very northwest part of Russia. Residents witnessed the fall of the celestial body similar to the famous Chelyabinsk meteorite. It flashed at 02:10 am local time and was clearly seen in the sky.

However, no sound of explosions was heard. Officials say that the nature of the celestial body is unknown, while some people suggest that it would have been a UFO.
