Neuralink, Elon Musk's startup that's trying to directly link brains and computers, has developed a system to feed thousands of electrical probes into a brain and hopes to start testing the technology on humans in in 2020.
Although Neuralink has a medical focus to start, like helping people deal with brain and spinal cord injuries or congenital defects, Musk's vision is far more radical, including ideas like "conceptual telepathy," or seeing in infrared, ultraviolet or X-ray using digital camera data.
Even according to Musk, you could basically store your memories as a backup and restore the memories. You could potentially download them into a new body or into a robot body.
